Girls

So I'm a little obsessed at the moment with this HBO TV show- created, written, directed by and starring Lena Durham. I can only describe her as brave and insanely talented. The dialogue is witty, the subject matter confronting and the characters are inherently flawed. Its like catching up with friends (but much more sex and nudity than I routinely witness with said friends, and a hell of a lot funnier).

Lena Durham (creator, director, writer, star) has a penchant for body art and alliterating character names

Hannah Horvath (Lena Dunham): ambitious young writer, insecure,  individual, clothing so unique often borders on ugly (big fan of short shorts), many awkward sexual experiences

Jessa Johansson (Jemima Kirke): free spirit from England (although father is played by Australian Ben Mendelson and stepmother is Patricia Arquette), Hippie X Hipster, artist, nanny, you won't believe the stuff that comes out of her mouth.

Marnie Michaels (Allison Williams): uptight gallery curator, insecure, superficially has it all but still isn't happy, obsessed with a small artist called Booth Jonathan, character I most relate to.

Shoshanna Shapiro (Zosia Mamet): young, naive, innocent (I can't think of anymore synonyms), hilarious yet embarrassing vocabularly mostly comprised of text-speak and abbreviated words.
